With so many sunscreen products available it’s often difficult to know where to start! Let me help….

Firstly you need a mineral based sunscreen as these are much better quality, light on your skin and non-toxic. Unfortunately, most high street sunscreens are chemical based, which is not the best for skin. They are also heavy, greasy, clog the skin.

Secondly, you want a sunscreen which offers SPF30, or better again SPF50. UV damage is one of the most ageing factors for premature skin ageing, therefore, year round protection is essential.

Pigmentation can be a tricky skin concern, but it’s one of my favorites to work with. Maybe because I’ve struggled with it myself for much of my adult life. And honestly, most people wouldn’t even guess now! But that is because I've treated it consistently over the years.

My advice? Stay persistent and trust in the power of science.

Do I treat every client’s pigmentation the same way? Definitely not.

Can pigmentation be permanently removed? Unfortunately, no, but with the right skincare and treatments it can be managed.

But are there effective treatments that can improve skin health and make pigmented areas look significantly better? Absolutely!

Can I help with your pigmentation concerns? 100% yes!

I get asked a lot about this treatment in clinic. If you’re looking to purchase a mask for red light therapy then make sure you do your homework.

'Budget home red light devices’ are NOT the same as medical grade technologies. Let me explain…

Red light therapy (the right kind), often known as phototherapy, utilises specific wavelengths of red light and/or near-infrared, combined with the correct power level to stimulate cellular rejuvenation. This incredible treatment promotes collagen synthesis, reduces inflammation, and boosts your skin's natural healing abilities and radiance. And I use it alongside a lot of my other treatments.

Whilst I’m all for you buying a device for home usage, it’s important to do your homework. Most home-care devices may ‘look red’, however, they mostly do not provide enough energy to achieve results. Before you buy, ensure it is able to produce red light at 630-680 nanometers (nm) or 800-850nm for near infrared. If it doesn’t provide evidence of this, then it is unlikely to offer much benefit. For me, I only trust @‌Celluma or @‌Dermalux.
